The Journal "Special Pedagogy and Psychology" was created to highlight new research directions in the field of special (correctional) pedagogy and special psychology, as well as the results of review and empirical research in pedagogical, psychological, and socio-psychological work with children and adolescents with disabilities.
The journal covers new methods and technologies for preventing personal, behavioral, and cognitive developmental deviations, and for organizing psychological-pedagogical support for the habilitation and rehabilitation of children with disabilities. It publishes innovative methodological developments that improve the practice of specialists (teachers, educators, special education teachers/defectologists, speech therapists, psychologists, adaptive physical education specialists, etc.) working with children with disabilities. Articles are also published on working with families of children with disabilities and on creating a favorable, developmental environment around them. An important content area is the work of public volunteer organizations that help children with disabilities and their families to socially adapt and become socialized in society.
Thus, the journal's goal is to identify, synthesize, and disseminate best practices in theoretical research and practical (methodological) developments in the areas of education, upbringing, correction, and prevention of developmental disorders in children with disabilities, as well as experience in organizing psychological-pedagogical support for habilitation and rehabilitation processes and providing psychological-pedagogical assistance to their families.
The journal's editorial board includes more than thirty researchers from research organizations and universities in Russia and nearby foreign countries (CIS states) who conduct research and train undergraduate and graduate students in the field of Special (Defectological) Education.
